SPW celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 9^th March with loads of fun activities to engage everyone with reading. The library was decorated with bunting designed by students which looked brilliant and showed off many of their favourite books including Harry Potter, Tracy Beaker and The BFG. The library hosted a range of activities throughout the day including colouring, crosswords, and wordsearches but the most popular of all was the emoji book quiz where students had to decode the titles of the books from the emojis to win a prize.  

Every student in Years 7 and 8 received a £1 World Book Day book and were encouraged to use their voucher to get another book of their choice. Staff came dressed to impress on World Book Day which had pupils eagerly guessing who was who. We had a range of characters visit the school including Shrek, Mary Poppins, Jo March, the Scarecrow from the Wizard of Oz, and two Cruella De Vils to name a few! 

We love celebrating reading every day of the year and World Book Day is an excellent opportunity to spread the bookish cheer and create even more of a buzz around reading.
