Government and Politics Curriculum
Vision
We are living in a time where every single aspect of our lives has been governed by Politics. From getting a haircut to going abroad, the people we elect have dictated the way we live in an unprecedented way.
The subject covers a diverse range of topics which allow pupils to gain a broad understanding of Britain in modern times. Pupils will gain knowledge of both UK politics and government, studying important developments in politics, from the rise of referendums to the Supreme Court judgements that shaped our exit from the European Union. We study Global Politics where the key global issues of our time are learnt from the role of the UN and whether the COP summits are doing enough to solve climate change as well as a learning if human rights abuses are tackled by international courts effectively.
This is just a flavour of the knowledge pupils will gain through studying a subject that will allow them to become global citizens who understand both the country in which they live in but also the world at large.
