World Book Day was celebrated in style at St Paul's Way Primary School with an enjoyable off-timetable day of reading activities. 

Children arrived at school dressed in excellent costumes, including Harry Potter, The Proudest Blue, Peter Rabbit, and others. Some even made their own!

The day was packed with varied reading activities, one of which being Buddied Reading. It involved the older children reading to the younger ones. Then we welcomed parents into our classrooms with another DEAR time session, some being able to read outside.

There was a unique opportunity, where Year 4 students got to listen to a story Ms. Simmons' Dad created. They got to join in by making the noises of anything mentioned in the story.
All while our Year 6 students got involved in the National Literacy Trust quiz, and Years 3 and 4 did the BBC writing exercise.

They even had the chance to bring their creativity to life by making recommendation bookmarks to help each other know what they should read next!

We set sail with our Year 2 students, giving them the treasure hunt experience of a lifetime tied with book bingo, and Kahoot quizzes.

Lastly, as a school, we worked together to create an original story, with each class adding their own creative twist. The narrative evolved with every contribution, transforming and growing until it was complete.

We ended our celebrations with a lively fashion show where the children volunteered to model their costumes. 

Yet again we have had an amazing day celebrating the value of books, successfully enhancing our children’s love of reading, that they will carry their whole lives.
