Holocaust Memorial Day 2022
SPWT is marking Holocaust Memorial Day 2022.
Holocaust Memorial Day is an international day to remember the six million Jews murdered during the Holocaust. This is alongside the millions of other people killed under Nazi persecution of other groups, and in other genocides such as in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia, and Darfur.
SPWT is committed to honoring the lives of people impacted by genocide throughout the school year, but especially on Holocaust Memorial Day. We are marking Holocaust Memorial Day with a variety of educational activities and displays:
- Display in reception of our secondary school.
- Posters around school to spread awareness of the day of remembrance made by students in history club
- A Holocaust Memorial Day assembly for all year groups
- Library displays of literature recommendations which surround themes of genocide, the Holocaust, standing up to prejudice and discrimination.
- Signposting and explaining the context of the day in history lessons during the week of Holocaust Memorial Day
- Year 10 students to take part in Holocaust Educational Trust's live survivor webcast Wednesday 26th January
