Today, we celebrate another year of outstanding GCSE results, with our students once again surpassing the national average. The school’s long-standing focus on academic excellence, particularly in STEM and the arts, has seen remarkable success across the board.

Joining in the celebration with our students and staff was Tower Hamlets' Deputy Mayor, who shared in the pride of our students’ accomplishments. As has been the case for many years, we continue to be a beacon of academic achievement in the local community.

Our continued emphasis on STEM subjects has been a key factor in our students’ success, with exceptional results in Chemistry and Computing. Almost half of our students achieved grade 8 or above in Chemistry, while a third achieved the same in Computing. These results highlight the effectiveness of our rigorous curriculum and the passion our students have for these vital subjects.

Not to mention, our commitment to the arts is just as strong. With 5% of our intake selected based on musical aptitude, it was no surprise that 25% of our students achieved grade 9 in Music, and 40% in Drama. Humanities subjects also performed impressively, with one in every five students securing a grade 9 in History.

Additionally, many of our Year 10 students took Religious Education (RE) a year early, with over 50% achieving at least a grade 7. This early success is a testament to the determination and capability of our students.

We are so happy to be celebrating Top Achievers such as Lizzy and Salmann, who are among our brightest stars. Lizzy opened her results envelope to reveal an incredible ten Grade 9s and one Grade 8. Reflecting on this and her time within our school community, Lizzy shared her gratitude for the support she receievd, saying, “The school has provided so many opportunities for additional support and always encouraged me to aim for the best.”

Another outstanding performer was Salmann, who achieved six Grade 9s. On results day, he thanked his teachers for providing him with “a purpose and a reason to do well,” highlighting the importance of the school’s supportive environment in his academic journey.

Head of School, Firdusi Uddin, expressed immense pride in the achievements of this year’s GCSE cohort, saying, “This group has continued the legacy of success at SPW. I am deeply proud of how they have flourished in the last five years, approaching their education with a determination that has delivered these results. Many will now join us in the sixth form, and I am delighted that they will be among the first to use our brand-new post-16 centre.”

Our Sixth Form opens this September to welcome new students into our purpose-designed space, marking an exciting new chapter in their academic journeys.

We truly wish congratulations to the Class of 2025. We are incredibly proud of the hard work, dedication, and achievements. Their success is a reflection of their commitment, as well as the dedication of our staff who have supported them every step of the way.
